Yard – An Outdoor Retreat

Yard – An Outdoor Retreat

Yard is the first thing anybody notices about your house, for the simple reason – it is outdoor. Your garden or yard is the face of your home. Apart from this, yard plays an integral role in being the recreational area of your home. Be it quick walks or just a swing in between the beautiful flowers and green grass or just a tea or coffee in the middle of your garden, it does give a break from the daily household chores or monotonous office life. You can never have something called a perfect garden or a knack of designing it in a particular way. In short a garden is never finished – it evolves from season to season, year to year. And it’s a continuous process. There is something new about the garden every season, with different flowers blooming as per the season.

However, there are certain things that you can follow, which certainly will add to the charm, elegance and positivity of your garden –

1. Passage – you can make the most use of the passage of your home which leads into your garden. The often neglected area can add up to the aura of your garden. It could be used to create a sense of arrival. With potted flowers on both the sides and ending into a classy outdoor seating.

2. Borrow Views – your neighbor has a dream garden view and yours is not even slightly close to it. Need not worry!!! You can borrow the view of your neighbor’s garden. All you need to do is plan your garden in a way, style and seating so that you, your family or guests can leverage the magnificent view of your neighbor’s garden while sipping a cup of coffee or a few beers at your own place.

3. Multiple Areas – small garden size shouldn’t put you down. Infact if you have a small garden space, why not divide it into specific areas. It will make your garden look bigger and spacious. For example – you can divide your garden into two areas. One where you can have a coffee table set-up or built-in benches and other place you can either have fire pit where you can have barbeque parties or can have kids area with a nice comfortable swings and a small tree house.

4. Match it up – a beautiful garden that also goes with what goes inside the house can add up to the style. You can also use flashes of design that highlights what the inside of your house looks like.

Apart from a few design ideas we mentioned, it is very important to have a thorough knowledge of flowers that you wish to see in your garden. Be it the potted plants or aerial shoots, understanding of flora is a must if you want your garden to stand out. Because in the end plants and flowers is what defines a yard and a garden and having familiarity of flowers and best season suited for them can make or break the entire outdoor that you plan.
