Am sure most of us have balconies built in homes. But the luxury of having a balcony in your own room is beyond articulation. A perfect place to read, enjoy the fresh air, feel the first rains, seep in Vitamin D on a sunny day, make all the crazy plans with friends or gossip incessantly with your best friends. Don’t you just adore this idea!!? Am sure you must have thought about making it more comfortable by decorating it with the right accessories. There isn’t a knack of decorating a balcony. However, there are certain must have’s in your balcony which will steal all the stares of visitors and guests.

Let’s discuss each must have’s in detail in the coming section. Firstly, decide on flooring of the balcony. You could use tiles (wooden look) or ceramics or stones or even give it a look and feel of a potential garden by setting imitation grass flooring. You can have a lot of options here. If your budget doesn’t permit, you can just go for normal tile flooring and maybe later put up imitation grass on it.

Next step and an equally important decision is seating plan. Room balconies are generally small not much spacious. We suggest do not clutter up your balcony by arranging a big table set-up. You can have a comfortable sofa chair at one side, and a nice swing on the other. A smart way to accommodate a lot of people is to have foldable chairs which you hang on balcony walls when not in use. Make sure the chairs are colorful, it will also serve as decorative for the balcony wall. You can even have a small table to go with the sofa. Do not forget to keep a lot of cushions for a comfortable seating.

Now it’s time to get the good vibes in. Place plants, pots, hanging plants, creepers, basically whatever you like when it comes to flora. This will give you a feel of outdoor garden and also make the ambience fresh and lively. You can even hand paint the pots with bright colors and carve intricate designs on them. Do It Yourself activities are always fun. Get pots of different shapes and sizes. There are earthen pots, then there are pots made of ceramics, you can even go for steel/ metallic DIY pots. Hang a few on balcony ceiling or balcony walls; place few on the floor if you have enough space. You can experiment and settle with what you like the most.

Finally, let there be light always. Make sure your balcony isn’t too dark in the night. Place a lamp next to the sofa or table, light hanging from ceiling will give a contemporary look to your balcony. You can even light the face of balcony to give it a chic look.
